Hello!
It’s so nice to meet you. I’m Julia—a mother, writer, wife, a really bad gardener, a lover of community, and a birthworker. I love ritual and tradition, living in a place with four seasons (I admit I have major complaints about February), and figuring out how to make life more joyful.

I started Maypop because I believe new parenthood deserves presence and reverence.
Parents deserve to be met with both science and soul. My care is grounded in evidence, trauma-informed practice, and deep respect for the expertise you already have. When I work with families, I bring knowledge and experience, but I also bring witnessing, warmth, and steadiness.
Maypop is named for the beautiful, stubborn plant that grows wild here in Georgia and throughout the South. You might know it by another name: passiflora, or passion flower. The Cherokee called it Ocoee, a word that lives on in place names around here: “Oconee.” Its blossoms are striking and complex. Its vines are tangled, strong, and tenacious.
That’s how I see the families I serve: Fierce. Rooted. Connected.

I support people who are building their own way through pregnancy and postpartum
The families I work with want to feel strong, seen, and respected as the experts of their own bodies.
You don’t have to show up perfect.
None of us will.
You don’t even have to know what you need.
That’s fine.
You just have to be ready to feel supported.
I’ve got you.
